You never thought anyone would notice. Hell, you never thought it mattered.

It started small (doesn’t everything?), with an idle nick on the underside of your calf. Not the wrists, because that was too easy; that meant you were seeking attention, the internet said, and you weren’t, damnit. Attention was never your goal. This wasn’t some weird cry-for-help.

You just wanted the hole in your gut to feel a little less empty.

It grew from there, though. You found out why people preferred their arms: it hurt more. After a few weeks, you just started wearing long sleeves. Nobody ever questioned it. It was the beginning of fall. Why would anybody question it?

Hell, for them to question it, they’d have to notice you were there first.

Some days, you wished you weren’t. Some days, it didn’t seem worth it. You got up, you went to school, you fought your way through class, you ate lunch alone, you struggled with your homework, you came home. You locked the door behind you when you woke up, you unlocked it when you got off the bus.

On those days, the blade dug a little deeper.

You saw your Bro less and less, because he never checked your room, and you rarely left it. There were raps to write, and stories to get lost in. There were movies to watch. There was not a single fucking reason for you to interact with the outside world.

Every day was the same. You’d fit your key into the lock, the door would click open, and you’d call into an empty house. “Bro, you home?”

He never was. Work, he said.

Always work. Always something.

Until the day it wasn’t anymore.

Until one day you came home, and you barely got the word ‘home’ out of your lips before your brother was crushing your form against his chest, hugging you so tight you couldn’t breathe, whispering choked apologies into your ear, ragged promises that he’d be there for you, that he was always there for you, that he was so goddamn fucking sorry he’d ever let you feel like you were fighting against the world alone.

You think about denying it, about laughing it off.

He yanks up your sleeve, fingers playing over old scars, fresh wounds.

You break.

He’s there as you sink to the floor, his arms strong around you. He asks you what you need, his voice full of anxious concern, and you tell him this, just this, because all you’ve ever needed is someone to be there when you’re weak, to hold you when you can’t stand, to be your backup when the world is too much.

He asks you why you didn’t say anything, and you shrug helplessly. What was there to say?

“Anything,” he says. “Anything at all.”

You shake your head. “This,” you say, gesturing at your scars, “Was never a cry for help.”

“Yes it was,” he answers. “You just didn’t realize it.”

peebles teach me how to be you

can we just talk about this for a minute

because seriously i have so much respect for the adventure time team. they’ve made a successful cartoon that isn’t random poop and fart jokes for a solid eleven minutes. sure, adventure time has its immature moments, but then there’s parts like this.

pb’s backed up against the wall in a position that’s way too common in today’s society. you can tell she’s scared and uncomfortable. so what does she do? she beats the shit out of ricardio.

she doesn’t “play nice”, she doesn’t “let him down gently”, she tears off his limbs and stomps on his face. then ricardio tries to play the nice guy card and she has none of it. it’s refreshing to see something aimed at children that doesn’t state that girls need to be polite and sweet and stand by while someone makes them uncomfortable.

basically, i love this show and i love how it teaches girls something that’ll actually come in handy some day. god fucking bless.

And this is back on the dash again. Always reblog.

And let’s not forget, this isn’t a one time thing. There’s an episode later in the series where Ice King won’t leave her along and she fucking shoots him. Granted, its with a tranquilizer but still. She tells him exactly one time to back off, and when he doesn’t, she does not even hesitate to put him down. This is why Peebs will forever be my favorite. She doesn’t put up with it, and she tells little girls that they don’t need to put up with it either.

I fucking love Peebles. She’s pretty badass all the time.

I am convinced that this is the most wholesome show on television.

I seriously need to take the time and watch this show…

Karkat had always been absolutely fascinated by how romantic it sounded, when he’d first heard of them. A thousand paper stars to grant a wish? It was just like some of the best in his vast collection of movies.

But it wasn’t until a while later that he’d actually start making them. After finding out how to make them after a quick Trolloogle search, he set to work, knowing in his pan that it wouldn’t do anything, but still young and naive enough to hold onto a shred of hope.

It took a while, and used up lots of paper. Star after star after star.

When he was at about half a jar, he just.. stopped. It became a bit boring. A tiny bit dull. Star after star after tedious, colorful little star.

A couple perigrees or so later, when he was self-decidedly smarter and also wiser, he got into a dramatic, slur filled fight with Captor. He had thrown his arms up in outrage, when out of the corner of his eyes he spotted the jar, still half-full., covered with a thin layer of dust. Pausing, he slid the pieces of paper over, and began again.

It became a sort of ritual for him after that. Get into a fight, a couple paper stars, wake up in early evening grumpy, a couple more. After a short while of this, the jar was full. He placed it next to the husktop moniter, and stared at it occaisionally. A thousand and one were in there, prevented from growing little legs and escaping by a sturdy cork.

He.. waited. And waited. And then, he started another jar. Feel shitty, make stars, wanted to go into an absolute rage, make a few more. It didn’t make him feel any better, of course. Just gave him something to do that wasn’t tearing his whole hive down and throwing it at Her Condescension Herself until She came over and culled him personally.

The jars multiplied. He made a couple more friends, if he could call them that, somehow. More colors went into the mix. Sooner or later twelve separate colors filled up the jars.

When he’d been thrust into the game, he’d started making them with a fury. Anything to stay inside and not look at the nauseating color of his land.

The jars piled up. He got more and more frustrated with each one, as time went by.

But he kept them there, as a brightly colored silent confirmation that magic doesn’t exsist, and he’d never get any of his wishes granted.

Self-destruction is a beautiful thing.

Reasons under the cut if you want them.

I really like water
I can adapt to water temperatures really fast
I miss the ocean like holy shit. It’s the only thing I can still clearly remember from my trip to California back in ‘08.
If I ever get sad/stressed/pissed to high hell my immediate reaction is to jump in a pool or surround myself with water.
I went to Corpus Christie with a good friend back in ‘11, and we barely anytime in the water due to jellyfish, but they steered clear of me though.
I swim like a fish whenever possible
I can’t race-swim, but if you let me contentedly lounge around I can swim pretty fast

The second photo is shit, buuut here’s that scarf I started back awhile ago!

It’s a basic stockingette stitch, but it curled like a motherfucker before I found the right gauge because I’m an idiot who didn’t swatch first.

It’s done with Cherry Red- Red Heart, because as much as I hate Red Heart, our Wal-Mart doesn’t carry much else. But the blue is a nice acrylic that my grandma gave me. I basically needlepointed it in, and
it says “Don’t Panic”, taken from “A Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”
